This play will be an Australian premiere!

Auditions held Saturday May 9th, from 9am at Old Mill theatre, South Perth.

'Not About Nightingales' was the first play Williams penned under that name. It was started as a college assignment, writing a short play based on newspaper articles. There was an incident in a Philadelphia prison in the 1930s where prisoners were boiled alive as punishment for going on hunger strike. Williams dissects the politics of prison life that could've lead to such an incident, & uses surrealist elements to make the harsh environment enthralling!

This play requires a strong cast of 12 - 15 actors, with some actors playing multiple roles (final doubling up decisions will be made based on auditions).

Season will run through August at Last Drop tavern in Beeliar. Rehearsals will commence May 16th, three per week (Tu, Th, Su).

All characters require US accents, don't need to be regional unless specified.

Stage ages are only a guide.

Any characters with an * by their name, actors will be doubling as other convicts &/or guards.

NB: 18+ cast, some violence, there will be smoke used in the show, possibly strobe lighting.
